Even though NVIDIA is not my favourite graphics processor, but this is quite a news to me. Arstechnica, the PC enthusiast’s resource has reported that NVIDIA may have purposely disabled half of PhysX performance on the CPU by using the older x87 floating point set of instructions which has been replaced by newer instructions since 2005.
And of course, NVIDIA has denied this accusation and put the blames on an old codebase for the issues. But they have assured that the version 3.0, which is the next version of PhysX will address these problems. Well, I guess NVIDIA fans will have to wait patiently.
